Nolte's path to his current swing has taken an unusual path. He used to be horrible. Then he started getting a bit better. He took some lessons and got even better. He would play with his ex-wife when the rest of the Golftards couldn’t make it and he got even better. He got to a point where he was consistently shooting near 90. Then he got a bit worse. And worser. And here we are today.

| The Prince has some “colorful” quirks in his swing that honestly haven’t changed much over the years. When he’s on the top of his game, he's simply keeping the ball in play with his driver and counting on great putting for his pars and bogeys (and occasional birdies). We’ll examine his swing in detail, but we’ll try to focus on just a couple of recommended swing thoughts to keep things simple. | | |

How awesome is Tom Watson? The guy comes so close to outright winning the Open a couple of years ago long after “old” guys should be able to compete. So many people the entire world over were cheering for him, partly because of his age and partly because he such a great guy. Well, his fans got another fun reason to cheer for him back at the Open. He knocked in a hole-in-one from the par 3 6th.

Or is that holes-in-one? Whatever it is, it's really, really rare. One guy from Kansas hits a hole-in-one. And then another guy in his foursome, also from Kansas, steps up and hits another hole-in-one right after him. I have no idea if the Kansas part of this matters, but we've never seen it done in Georgia so perhaps it's relevant. Oh, and did I mention it was from 200+ yards? Wow!

Swing Thoughts

It’s been a long time since I had a conversation with myself about a consistent swing thought. For the limited amount of playing I’ve done the previous two years, the only thoughts in my head prior to swinging involved how much it was going to hurt (bad shoulders). Now that I’m used to the chronic pain, and some of the major damage has healed, it’s time for a new swing thought since I’m now slicing.

We've all been there. The group in front of you is playing frustratingly slow, so you launch one into them. Or perhaps you sliced your tee shot so bad it lands near another foursome playing on the next fairway over. Or perhaps you've shanked one off the hosel and almost hit your buddy who thought he was safe at a 90 degree angle. That little white ball can be dangerous.

Funny story about a young girl who reacted calmly to a hole-in-one. Wouldn't it be great if all kids listened to their parents as well as she did. From the article: There was a good reason for Reagan’s ho-hum reaction after holing the 85-yard shot with a 4-hybrid on July 6. She remembered her mother, Erin, and father instructing her numerous times not to make a lot of noise on the golf course.

Here's a great story from WFMY News 2 in North Carolina about a man who doesn't let a little thing like a handicap prevent him from enjoying the great game of golf. It's pretty cool to see this guy play and hear his buddies talk about forgetting he's different from them because he just plays. I'm still not sure how he manages to get the ball out of the cup, but this guy is awesome.

It had been almost a year and a half since I last played a round of golf prior to my attempt this past Sunday. A right shoulder injury that included damage to muscles, tendons, and bone kept me on the sidelines. And there was much discussion among the rest of the GolfTards whether I would ever play again. But after some minor range practice the previous week I gave it a go.

Some people think that because I'm a red-neck, I'm unrefined. Some people take my butchering of the English language as a sign that I'm uncivilized. Some people think that because I haven't read a book since High School, I'm unrefined. But if you get to know me off the course, you'll soon learn my favorite movie is "Moulin Rouge" and I write poetry.

We like to walk when we golf for two reasons. First, walking is generally cheaper and we're cheap kind of guys. Second, and don't quote us on this because we'll deny it, it's good exercise. If you're interested in finding out some of the benefits of walking while playing golf, besides allowing you to spend your precious money on beer instead of cart fees, take a look at the goofy website we found.

Ever wanted to combine your love of golf with your love of Playboy bunnies? The Playboy Girls of Golf put together a tournament that likely featured cute Playboy girls not quite up to par with what you’d expect to see in the magazine, and overpriced entry fees. It was probably fun for some guys out there, but this Fox Sports video actually doesn’t make it seem very fun. You judge.
