Golf Thought of the Day

This is just another example of low-tech beating high-tech.

This news story seems a bit far-fetched, but we suppose stranger things have happened...

Tib's Swing Review - August 24th, 2008
Analysis Overkill - Swing Reviews
Written by IBG
Saturday, 30 August 2008
Tib doesn't like to dwell in the past, so he's not interested in comparing where his swing is today versus the past. So we'll simply act like this is his first swing review and compare his positions with The Pro's. Tib's primary current swing thoughts are to keep the club head low during the take-away and to keep his head still all the way from the initial setup position to impact.

So, are you a patriotic golfer? South Korean government officials had to ask themselves that very question recently.

SEOUL (Reuters) Thu Aug 21, 2008 - South Korea's President Lee Myung-bak has told officials to give up golf for the moment because it sends the wrong signal just as the economy has hit the rough.

Golf Tales - Jokes and Fun

I have an inspirational story to share with you. Recently, a friend asked me if I’d like to play in a golf tournament. At first I said, “Naaahhh! I already play once a week.” Plus the entry fee was kind of steep and my 30+ handicap is too high earn any of the prizes. So my friend said “Come on, it's for handicapped and blind kids.”
Then I thought...

Yes, this review is a bit late, but as my excuse I can say that I have golfed nearly every weekend since late March. Anyway, one of my best friends from my high school and college years, who was also the best man at my wedding, got married this past June near our hometown. Naturally, I had to attend, but wondered how I would spend the other four days I would be home.

Golf Tales - Round & Lesson Reports
Written by IBG
Wednesday, 09 July 2008
I did something yesterday that I’ve never done before. I took a long lunch and played 9 holes of golf. I played with Tib and we were motoring around the course at a good clip. In fact, we played all nine holes in just under an hour and a half. I think we could have finished in an hour if we didn’t have a foursome in front of us. I also shot the best 9 hole score I’ve ever had, and that included a triple bogey 7.

Crowne Plaza Invitational 2008 at Colonial
Golf Tales - Golf Events

Phil Mickelson almost had another choke moment reminiscent of his collapse at Winged Foot in 2006 while tied for the lead on the 18th hole of the 2008 Colonial. Phil launched his tee shot deep into the woods left of the fairway. His competitor was in a great position to win, but Phil hit an amazing shot that you just have to see to believe.

A Day with Bobby Jones

Clubhouse – Street view
I confess that I have little foreknowledge of the famed 1920’s golfer, but nonetheless I was aware of a course bearing his name within the city of Atlanta. But since the location is a fair distance removed from the normal area of where we normally play, the opportunity to play this course had not previously been afforded.  Interestingly, Bobby Jones remains the only person to win all four Grand Slam tournaments in a single year.

Kitty's Golf Lessons
The Lowdown - Miscellaneous Links

Some cute MILF named Kitty keeps a journal about a bunch of stuff that doesn't interest us. But since she's cute, we read what she had to say about wives golfing with husbands, and found it pretty funny.
Here's a list of fun things to go while golfing with hubby:
1. Drive the golf cart. Forget to stop and pick him up on your way to the green.
2. Run over him.
